The command crew of the Starship Yorktown, shortly before the end of their first year under the command of Captain Lester Bulloch.

From left to right: Lt. Commander Theen (Security & Second Officer); Lt. Commander Donovan (Chief Science Officer); Ensign K'Tema (Communications); Captain Bulloch; Commander Binoche (Navigator & First Officer); Lieutenant Rai (Chief Medical Officer); Ensign Hipper (Helm); Yeoman Xesha; Lieutenant Commander Park (Chief Engineer)

I rendered this in three parts a few weeks ago, and stuck them together. I used the aspect ratio from the films, but in the future I'll be going with a standard widescreen format. The conceit here will be a sort of "TV show" idea similar to those employed by many others. "These are the voyages of the Starship Yorktown" or something along those lines. Inspired in equal parts by works by Arcass (whose images got me on the Trek kick) and Celticarchie (for this specific image and description). Individual character portraits to follow.

Ptrope's Bridge, modified with shaders by Calida; screens found online over time (if I have used something of yours, let me know so I can give credit; this specifically refers to the kickass DCARS display at Engineering that I tweaked); JamesJAB uniform textures tweaked by me to include Yorktown insignia; various characters, hair, and so on from DAZ and Renderosity that I'll credit in the individual portraits.

Star Trek and all derivatives thereof copyright CBS. Or whatever legal mumbo-jumbo makes it plain I'm not claiming credit for it.

Oh damn this could not have been easy to render. I'd love to hear more about this multirendering tecnique you used.

The Yorktown was the actual name used for the ship in the pitch to the Networks...

I wish they'd do a 3D animated series with a crew like this (especially an Andorian as a regular cast member which is LONG overdue in Trek, imo). It would be so much more cost-effective than live action, and they could pull off effects and render scenes that would be much harder (and way more costly) to do otherwise.

Much appreciated. Unfortunately, my 4 year old machine and DS3A's uber shader system aren't getting along very well right now, so group shots may be on hold until I can afford an upgrade.

I can only render 2 figures plus clothes at a time in Poser 6, so I know where you're coming from!

Thanks! Me too...I have more fun rendering them, which may explain Yorktown's unusual-for-the-2260's gender ratio.

Hey, looking at them, makes the time go by faster while on a boring duty shift.

Of course, I feel sorry for the captain who can't get up from his chair.

Suggestion: Some of your poses are a little on the stiff side- the captain is one example.
You might want to go to the Star Trek Artists unite group and check out Mylochka's pose files. She has a file of poses for just about every bridge position.

Yeah I have a relative lack of good seated poses. After a bit of difficulty with Mylochka's (set up for V3, and I am using V4 and not yet great at adapting V3 poses) I tried to adapt some from a couple of 3DC sets with varying levels of success (although I am proud of how the Helmsman and Navigator turned out). The captain is, I think, the victim of an unfortunate camera angle; his left arm is draped over the back of his chair but this isn't readily apparent. But I have to confess I'm definitely still very early along the learning curve.

Okay. Well, you might check Renderosity's free section- people post free poses there for all the figures all the time. PLlus of course, if you have the funds, there are packages of poses in the store too. I try to go for the Partial pose sets- then you can mix and match to get the pose you want- or least get closer to it so it's easier to position the figure without alot of hassle.

Hmmm I hadn't thought of partials. As for funds, well, Daz's stupid (and by that I mean awesome) March Madness is straining resources. But a good pose set won't break the bank any further...sure...
